Going gnome spotting is a hobby where you go somewhere you think a gnome might be, and go looking for them. It can be hours of fun. Here is a guide on how to (hopefully succesfully) go looking for gnomes.

First, know the type of gnome you're looking for, and how to spot them.

Forest gnomes live in forests. Look for the blue-shirted, red-capped, brown or dark green trousered fellows. They have many escape routes and ways to hide and are wary of humans. Prefers old forests, with no human structures in them. Much harder to find now that their favourite forests have been cut away.

Dune gnomes live in deserts. They wear orange hats, green shirts, and khaki or brown trousers. Know the least about humans, and mostly only hear about them.

Garden gnomes can wear any colors. They are either jolly and mishevious or somber and melancholy. They are good at sitting still and can pretend to be a statue, often tricking humans, if you aren't paying attention. Has a great deal of knowledge. Good at hiding, especially in plain sight.

House gnomes can again wear any colors, but may pick ones that match your house's colors, as to blend in, if they can. Prefer to live in older houses, dislike the city, and choose well-kept houses over unkempt ones. Have the most education (and knowledge of humans) of all. Very learned in hiding, usually has escape routes planned out through the house. Could live in attics. Creep around silently when the inhabitants are sleeping.

Farm gnomes wear, like dune gnomes, orange caps, green shirts, and brown trousers. Likes helping around farms with crops or animals. Lives in barns, silos, windmills, or beneath trees.

To search for Siberian gnomes is dangerous and unreccomended.
